Yet Another Bad Experience With Symantec

  1. Hi People,

I have used Norton Ghost for many years. Tonight I upgraded my 2002 version
for the 2003 version. What a disaster! First I was presented with a list
of possible upgrades, including a full new version, an upgrade version, and
various options to be able to redownload in the future. I selected the
option to upgrade only. Then I was asked for credit cards, etc. After this
I was told my purchase was successful for AUS$264! ie I get an update plus
a full new copy, plus, plus, etc. Bugger. So an objection was lodged along
with a total stop of my credit card payment.

Then I looked to backup this download. Guess what? The download is not
kept as the software goes into auto install! So it appears that Norton
expected me to pay another ?$15 to be able to redownload for 1 year.

    Beware

  6. Because I can d/l it many times I managed to stop the auto install just in
time. I now have the full package for backup.

    Thanks

  7. Thanks for the compliment.

I do watch ebay, but you know how it works. People buy software, copy it
and then sell the orig on ebay. I try to keep out of that culture, but will
resort to further methods when I have a legal copy, but can't back it up!

    Regards
