I am using Windows Live Mail to pick up my Yahoo email using incoming
    server pop.mail.yahoo.com.au

Up until today this has worked without problems. Nothing has changed
    in my settings overnight.

This morning I can send emails but not receive them. I am getting this
    error mesage:-

Unable to send or receive messages for the Yahoo.com (xxxxxx) account.
The connection to the server has failed.

    Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com.au'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 995
    Secure(SSL): Yes
    Socket Error: 10061

Is anyone else having problems picking up their Yahoo email from
    Yahoo's POP server this morning?

G'Day Rod - thanks for the feed back.

After a few hours of frustration and knowing that you are OK I thought
I would try a few changes to the account settings.

I changed the incoming server from:-

    pop.mail.yahoo.com.au

    to:-

    pop.mail.yahoo.com

    and it now works!

After years of using the server name with .au at the end Yahoo have
suddenly overnight start to reject it!!

Strange, though, the outgoing server works with both:-

    smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com

    Cheers .......................

Odd, I did check that I was using the same form as you were and I still am.

I have noticed over the years that you do get an occassional
popup with OE6 claiming that the password has failed, but it
never lasts for long so I just decided that that might well be
happening when the load was higher than usual or something.

Presumably there is some timing difference with WLM and OE6 or something.

My Yahoo account has also been bouncing today, which it does every now
and again, and then sorts itself out.

Like yourself making it pop.mail.yahoo.com instantly fixed the
    problem.

    Thanks for your comment Ross

Just for curiosity sake I tried it again today with the .au suffix and
    it is working again!

But I will leave it without the .au in future just in caes :)
