    hi, I already code extremely neat and tidy html... I was considering migrating to xhtml (since it is the future!)

    any decent links or other info?

    does anybody have a list of exactly which tags have to be used in this way...

    e.g. <br/>, <hr/>

    I've also never used the !DOCTYPE rubbish. IMHO it looks ugly and worst of all... I don't know its exact use... I have compulsive obsessive disorder when it comes to coding... I need to know exactly what everything is doing and I go insane if I see a character out of place. :|

    The best site to get tutorials and tag reference's are from W3Schools. You have to use DOCTYPES unless you don't want the browser to know what your code was designed in. The site I linked aslo will verify your code.
