I purchased a TV Tuner for my computer (Hauppage DVR 1600) so I can record TV shows when I'm not around. My computer will sleep and wakeup when a show is schedualed to be recorded and then go back to sleep which is great.

I've attached a few screen shots.

My cable does not come in that clear on my TV, on my computer it looks the same. Time Warner blames the clarity on "sun spots", yes from the actual sun...

TV playback is coppy but from what I've been reading it's due to the MPEG decoder. I need to find a better decoder to try.

Im not a big expert on TV tuners, but I have seen good things from HP's tv tuners, with the latest drivers. Great picture quality, and quick fast response. Mind you, this was on a laptop. Is yours a desktop/laptop card? Keep us updated, becuase I want to buy a tuner my self, and have been doing some preliminary research.

It's a desktop TV tuner. From what I've been reading, the choppyness is due to ATI / mpeg decoder and not a problem with MS. I didn't think I would enjoy having a tuner in my computer as much as I do.

You have cable right? not satellite...
And they're using insulated cabling right?
    And they're on Earth right?
And these "sun spots" are consistant?

It was a lame excuse, but what can you do when they don't want to help you out. :|

Get that person's name and ask to talk to that person's manager.

Money has it either they'll change their tune, or the manager will appologize and give you a better answer. Either way they are there to help you.

"Sun spots" would have me screaming or talking very condesending at Cox employees if they said it to me. I'm sure some of them still remember me.

..."Sun spots"? Gophers eating the lines makes much more sense. Why didn't they just say gophers?

Give me their number. I have some pent up aggression that I could take out on some help desk guy that wants to talk to me like I'm an idiot.

Yeah, if they gave me some lame excuse like that I think I would switch from "Yes sir No sir" to "Is there anybody working there that's not an idiot" in 3.9 seconds.
