Wierd Windows XP Media Center Install Problem

    A friend of mine has a COA (OEM) for XP MCE 2005 but no disks.

    As I am running an OEM version on a Media Center PC I lent him my disks
    to install with his OEM COA.

    He tels me that the software will not recognise the key from his OEM COA
    on the lent OEM version of MCE.

    He also tells me that the OEM MCE COA WILL allow an installation of
    Windows XP SP2.

    What's happening?

    Please read the first post.

    My friend has a legal COA attached to a machine that needs MCE
    re-installing but has not got (cant find) the original install meda.

    Why does he have to purchase again?

    So does that mean that if the installation came on a machine where the
    manufacturer placed an image on the hard drive for re-installation and
    did not supply install media then the hard drive went t**s up he would
    have to purchase a brand new copy even if he has the most important
    part of the installation, the COA?
