I came back to the computer after several hours of leaving it on and was met with act notifications saying infections detected - Trojans. Nobidea how they got on there as there were no programs I had left running. I ran avg and malwarebytes which removed some Trojans and shell.exe mostly from the app data Microsoft folder. Now I can't connect to the net. Firefox says the proxy server is refusing connections. No idea what this means as I've never used a proxy with FF yet. IE won't load pages either, however utorrent will work and the connection to the router is fine. Help?

It's easier to copy and paste :)

Check that to see if there are entries directing you somewhere else.

It seems like your hosts file (as Zeus thoughtfully copy and pasted) has become hijacked.

I would also suggest running hijackthis and posting the results.

Hmm, turns out all it needed was another scan. Apparently MWB didn't pick up everything first time round. I resarted in safe mode, ran it again and it started working straight after. Hosts file wasn't affected. Strange!

Thanks for the replies though, you guys are always so helpful!

I don't ever remember where that stupid file is off the top of my head so your post was easier to find than trying to google it :)

And glad you got things worked out Karan.
