Does anyone know of an app for the Mac, iPhone, or iPad that will allow
you to enter the names of a few apps and will monitor for price
reductions and automatically inform you when they happen?

Great idea! Why don't you build it?

    Gary:
Most of them are already at $0.99. How low do you want them to go!? I
see reviewers complaining about $0.99 apps as if they have invested
their fortunes. I don't know what my limit is, but I certainly wouldn't
take the time to complain about a cheap app that didn't do what I
wanted it to. Maybe $25 or so.

I don't think he's talking about $0.99 apps, or free ones. Just guessing!

Haven't seen an app that does that, but how about this
    for an alternatvie:

    1. Subsicribe to Iphone life. They have a daily lsiting of new apps
and apps that go on sale. (Some free.)

there are already a *lot* of apps that do that, not that they work
particularly well. i've tried a bunch and i've yet to see any of them
push a notification for a price change.

The time it takes me to type and submit a complaint
is worth more than 99 cents.

Download appshopper from the App Store and set it to list price drops and
it will give you a list of all the apps that have dropped in price. Some
that use to cost money are now free. It will also give you the price
    history of an app.
You can add apps to your wish list and be automatically notified when their
    is a price change.

How would you know when to buy such an app?

it is supposed to send you a push notification that an app you're
watching has changed price. unfortunately, it's not reliable.
