Now that the HD media war is over, who is going to be buying a BluRay player? Unfortunately I purchased the HD-DVD player awhile ago and am stuck with a brick. It's up for sale on eBay and I am waiting on either the Samsung BDP-1500 or the Panasonic DMP-BD50k player.

I was wrong, I'm fine with it though. :D

I will picking up the DMP-BD50k when it comes out this Spring. I have already purchased a couple of BD movies.

Do you mind telling me why you're choosing the Panasonic over the other models?

I'm not interested in a blu-ray player. I'm still not happy with the technologies it represents (insanly locked down video, Java programing, none of the shared viewing experiences of HD-DVD). We'll see if something more impressive is released to lure me over to the HD disk world.

I like the fact that it handles the internal decoding of HD-DTS and DD TrueHD since my receiver does not and I will probably not be upgrading it any time soon. I may hold out of the the Samsung if they have similar features. I don't care for or about the option to view PiP or stream video, that's why I buy or rent a disc, I want to watch it without downloading anything- so those options on the Panasonic do not interest me.
