I'd like to introduce you all to our new owner and administrator to TechieHQ, IanCun. Ian is from the UK and has stated that he likes the family friendly environment here. I have not had much of a chance to speak with him regarding his plans for the site but feel free to ask him any questions.

I will be keeping my account here and popping in once in awhile. You can always reach me through Windows messenger and or through my personal website (create an account!), Ogden2k.net- which will be getting a face lift in the next week or so which will require some screen shot taking from you Mac folks.

I have really enjoyed getting to know you all and appreciate all of your help!

Well welcome IanCun, I am also from the UK, I hope you enjoy taking over this forum.
James, I guess it must be a little sad to see THQ go to a new owner, I know this has been your baby.

Hi folks :) As James has said, I really like the friendly atmosphere over here and I'll do my best to help the site grow. James has done a great job getting such a good group of techies all in one helpful forum :thumbs

The site will probably be transferred in the next 24 hours, so if you get any temporary errors or glitches don't worry - they'll be ironed out soon :D Moving servers is straight forwards, but it might take some time for the DNS to update.

I look forward to seeing you all around the forums :D

I've done a database snapshot just after I made the above post, so anything posted after that may not be transferred to the new database - although I will try to do one more just before the new site goes live. I'll keep you update on how the move goes :)

I wonder how THQ will deal with the constant rain over here in the UK

It's been raining all day here - which is strange as it started off as a lovely sunny day!

I'm glad the server move has gone smoothly, thanks for such a smooth transfer James :)

I'll be looking forward to the expansion of techieHQ :)

James, I can get screenshots for you on my mac. What do you need screenshots of?

Wow, things are changing a lot around here. Sorry I have been so scarce in the past few months. I have been having a rough semester of computer science courses.

    Ian, nice to...uh..."meet" you. :)

James, looking forward to the new site. I can take some screen shots for you as well, if necessary.

Nice Dave, now you start posting. ;)

I'll post a new thread once the new site is up.

    Good point :D

I'm from the UK and in to all things computing (everything from hardware to programming!). I'd really like to establish this site as an excellent resource for tech enthusiasts - the existing community seems like a really friendly bunch of people, somewhere that people would really enjoy hanging out :)

I really like the site design, so the first thing I'm going to do is try and promote the site to get the activity up. If anyone has any thoughts on new features or ideas they'd like to add, then do let me know :D

Seeing as things are changing all over the place, I suppose I can spill some beans... I know a while back I was working with James on integrating streaming flash video from the site, eg video tutorials etc... the only issue was the fact that I didn't have time to film anything for it, I could edit, and upload, but not so much script and film.
If anyone wants to join in on this video thing, thats an idea for expansion I suppose, oh, and there was talk about opening up to the gaming community too...

That sounds like a really interesting idea! I think it should be straight forward to add flash video streaming, but getting videos made would be more difficult - although if anyone is able to make them then it would be excellent :)
