It turns out that son bought a SB live! card some time ago.
There is a useful little daughter card with it.

But the disk(s) are nowhere to be found.
This pisses me off because it contained a version of cakewalk, which
would go well with the card.

Anyone know where I can get the original CD that came with the card?

Best way would be to look on the card and find the CTXXXX numbers of the
card and daughter card and then post them here. If anyone in here has
the disc then they might be prepared to burn or pass it on for you.

Alternatively if you can find a Creative disc with Cakewalk on it then
you can get the card drivers from Creative by download and then install
Cakewalk since the installer usually only looks for a Creative product
    installed in the machine.

  4. Have you tried Creative? This page indicates that they will supply
    replacement disks.

Interesting, seems to actually be from compaq:
    ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq (where there's an 10megabyte text file
    listing the contents)

Seems to have the drivers (lots and lots) but not the misc sofware.

    Card is TSB0060110003353
    Model No SB0060
I'm not sure how I would find one of these.

Shame ... so often the case.
Have you done a search for cakewalk at www.filesearching.com? There is
some mention but I have no idea of versions etc

I've bookmarked this site - there may be interesting stuff for the
    future.
What is irritating is that stuff is removed from manufacturers sites,
not archived, and this is when storage and bandwidth have never been
    more available or cheaper. Bah!

Yes, but they'll probably want money for it/them; Oz is a farmer after all
    <g>

It's annoying when manufacturers do this: don't allow you to download the
freebies that originally came with the hardware. If the software's any good
then maybe you will want to upgrade to the full version. So the benefit to
the software manufacturer is the same.

I've checked the cds (I've got a few soundblaster disks) I've got BTW and
none of them have cakewalk on them.
I'm suprised no-one here has offered to copy the disk(s) thought there are
AFAICT many versions of the soundblaster live. If Oz reads this I have a
couple of friends who have some versions of the soundblaster (live) if he
emails me I'll send him whatever they've got. (Will cost postage plus the
    cost of the cd(s))

It'd probably be useful to know the hardware model (written on the card)

This will take at least a week (as I don't see them that often)

Son had some friends here last night.

    It turns out that:

    1) He got the sb-live from the states via a schoolfriend.

    2) It definitely had cakewalk on, because he lent the disks to a friend
but the software refused to load cakewalk because friend didn't have a
    sb-live (just a sb ordinary).

    3) Friend is notoriously unreliable, one is unlikely to see disks again.

    Ho hum...

Many thanks to those of you who assisted in this matter....
    You have been most helpful.
