I'm trying to install the driver for an onboard sound card but I dont know
what the motherboard is. And Windows XP is no help because it is trying to
    install an "unknown device".

The mobo has a number on it which reads 760GXK8MC WinFast but I cant make
    out any other details.

Is there a way within software to see what motherboard i have?

This might be a stoopid question. Sorry if it is but I am pulling my hair

Googling 760GXK8MC does give me some drivers, but not from any reputable
websites. I'd prefer not to download and install a virus!!

  2. Due to the clearing effect of the killfile
I was able to see Phil say:
Why not go straight to the foxconn web site?
    Is this them?

WinFast is something you see with Leadtek Video cards...

  6. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have downloaded what appears to be
the correct driver, but still no go.

I think I will just quit mucking around and get a USB sound card.

Its cheating my way out of it, but eh. Ive got more important things to do
    on my Saturdays.

Have you disabled the onboard audio system (if you have one) in the bios?
