Site Upgrade

There's a new version of vBulletin out now, so I'm going to try giving it a go - but also give the site a bit of an overhaul

It's been quite quiet, so I'm going to try out a design change and some other tweaks It's going to take some time to design and test on my PC, but I'll keep this thread updated as things progress.

If you have any requests for features of things you want adding to the site, please let me know in this thread

Thanks guys It might be worth waiting till the site design change if you are planning on donating, as I might code in some extra goodies

I've had a little play round with colours, and here's the test I've made - you'll need to use your imagination quite a bit though as it's only a very basic outline!

What do you guys think? I'm going to try and use the current logo in this style, and this doesn't show any of the buttons/text etc... as it is a very basic test.

Would love some feedback, so if it's good I can continue or if it's bad I can try something else

Thanks guys, glad you like it I'll backup the site database and do a test install tomorrow if all goes to plan! (I can easily switch back if not, or it doesn't look as good once online).

I've made good progress with the design today, so I'll aim to launch it as planned tomorrow - but no doubt there will be some tweaks needed for a day or two after it's uploaded. I'm going to merge a couple of the forums (such as the Windows ones), as there are several that only have a few posts so consolidating them should help get things busier

It should be possible to have the current design as a 2nd template if anyone doesn't like the darker colour scheme. With a click of a switch you should be able to switch between the two.

 

I'm in the process of upgrading the site now - I've spotted quite a few bugs already, so it might take a couple of days to get things right.

I had to clear the entire old site and then do close to a fresh install, as there were lots of plugins and settings that might not have been compatible with the new forum version. I'll add things back slowly over the coming weeks.

 

It should be in the top right still It will take a couple of days to get bugs ironed out, so I'm working on adding all the missing files/images now

I think that the site should be 90% working now, I've fixed all the major bugs I can find - so over the coming days I'll add all the bits that we're missing from the old version.
