I've bought several Samsung 1920 by 1200 pixel 24-inch monitors since
2008 - and the first of these has failed - the backlight has given up.

What is the experience here - do all monitors fail as they turn 3 years
old? Or are the Samsumg models particularly susceptipble?

  2. I am quite certain that not all monitors fail when they turn 3 years. I
have (amongst many others) 8 Philips LCD monitors and the oldest is
something like 11 years old and none have failed.

Wife has a 24" hasn't been turned off (pretty much) for many (4? 5?)
years. Temporarily on my desk is a 19" AOC 720x480 (or whatever) pulled
out of retirement to set up a small netbooky thing.

Apart from very hard knocks, none have failed yet.

[I KNOW I will regret saying this...]
