Went to the computer market and brought a bottle of ink to refill the canon
i550 cartridges. They gave me some syringes (maybe I look like a
junkie..haaa) anyway other than injecting the ink into where the ink goes to
the printerhead I can't see anywhere on top that will allow a needle that
fine to penetrate. Any help appreciated?

Good luck. You should have got some instructions with it. But FYI.. most of the
ink that they sell at computer markets is junk. It is not as black as the
originals, it's not waterproof and will smudge even when it's dry, and it's not
as fine either, and will clog up or ruin your printhead. (but I'm sure someone
    will contradict that)

  4. sadly too many crap inks are on the market, and it seems the chains (wont
mention any names) are using them as well, and really funking up some
printers i come across... sad, but that's the way it goes... but there are a
few decent enough inks around for everyday printing
