Recommendations for ute to remove orphan entries from Add/Remove Programs?

Discussion in 'DIY Computers' started by Mike Tomlinson, Jun 20, 2010.

  1. Any recommendations for a utility to delete orphan entries in Add/Remove
Programs on XP? I have several such.

Googling suggests farting about in the registry, but I seem to remember
there was 'an app to do that'. TweakUI has been suggested but the
version I downloaded (v2.1, specifically for XP) doesn't have this
    option.

I thought Sysinternals' Process Monitor had an option to do this but
buggered if I can find it.

    Any suggestions? Ta.

'Install Info' view in Spybot Search and Destroy's 'Tools' section has a
    delete button.

  4. Thanks. Should have said I'd already tried it. A/R Programs had two
orphans for Spybot Search and Destroy which the Win Install Cleanup
    didn't list.

  5. And I even have it installed already :) Thanks.

Just tried it, it's much nicer to use than the Microsoft equivalent, and
    quicker too.

  6. Heh. ironic that I needed to get rid of two orphaned entries - both
early versions of Spybot that didn't uninstall cleanly :)

  7. Revo Uninstaller is very good indeed, and has a stand-alone version which
can be run from a USB stick.
