problem with hosts file

    my sister downloaded an ad-blocking hosts file and now she can't access the web from IE or MSN explorer... anything we can do to change that? she has windows xp-sp2

    what is the hostfile called? are you sure it wasn't something malicious? scan out the file to see.

    either that, or it changed or overridden something in your firewall settings. delete the file and see if the internet comes back.

    I'm not sure what you're saying happened, but it sounds like you cannot access any website due to spyware?

    Check your HOSTS file %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc

    Run AntiSpyware and than post your HijackThis log here (found in our Handy Tools section).
