Possible Delay of iPad 2 until June due to design changes

Discussion in 'iPad' started by pupuweb.com Blog, Feb 22, 2011.

  1. According to research note from Yuanta Securities Co. today, Apple’s
iPad 2 may be delayed until June due to a number of reasons. One of
possible delay is due to “production bottlenecks” at Apple’s sourced
manufacturing plant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. since Apple request
to make design changes to iPad 2 before the Lunar New Year around 3
    weeks ago.

This delay of June release date seems odd as Apple typically announce
releases of new version iPhone during this month.

Lots of rumors going about Apple’s iPad 2 – thinner, lighter, faster,
more memory and faster graphics hardware, but these last minute design
changes will certainly cause possible shipping delays.

With the plethora of competing tablets hitting the market now and in the
near future, Apple may have decided it had to add some features (to the
extent that it could at this late date) that it was going to save for
the next rev. Personally, I'm waiting for a camera pointing away from
the user so I can take pictures with the iPad. Don't care much about a
camera pointing at me for video conferencing, but it would be a nice
extra. The iPhone has both I think.

or the rumour is totally bogus. nobody outside of apple knows when it
will be announced, but everyone thinks they do.
you really want a camera that's a 10" in size?? seems like it would be
    very awkward to use.

    Great point.
Give me 1-GB and RAM and/or more screen-res over a poxy camera, every day
    until eternity.
The only thing that actually spoils the iPad is the pitiful 256-MB of RAM.
    WTF was Jobs thinking ?

Oh, I don't know. One helluva viewfinder! But as always, whether it'd be
awkward depends on how it's implemented. I'd give better than even odds
that Apple would do it right.

This is a straight question; I'm not being snarky: Why do you need more
than 132ppi on a small device. The video I've watched on current models
is quite sharp. If I want to watch a high def movie, I'll use a big
screen TV, something that's 40" or 50" diagonal, not 9.7". And have both
    hands free for popcorn.

BTW, I agree with the more RAM request.

it has little to do with apple. the physics of holding something the
size of an ipad (or any tablet) to take a photo is just awkward.

i suppose if there's a tripod mount on an edge it might be useful
though, which of course, is not going to happen.

exactly. to hit that price point, you make a few compromises. 256 meg
memory was one of them, especially when backgrounding apps wasn't there
until november, well after it shipped.

  9. When I take pictures, I point my camera as close as I want to my
target and hope for the best. Sometimes I can see enough to frame
what I am aiming at. It may be that the iPad is too shiny for me to
use in bright sun, but elsewhere, I could actually use such a camera
without getting my reading glasses out whenever I take a photo then
taking them off when I want to see the scenery.

    Fred Moore:
I doubt that Mr. Moore had in mind a camera with the size and form
factor of the iPad. I think that he, like me, is thinking of an iPad
and all that it can do, but with a camera as an added feature.

Such a camera would be a convenient addition even if it didn't cause me
to give up my six interchangeable-lens DSLR's. I also want a
front-facing camera as I have come to like video phone calls.

  13. All technology qualifies for this observation. Meanwhile costs
    matter.
