I could not say that there really is the best. Lot of processors have good quality when it comes to gaming. It just depends on how much you can spend. :)

I would recommend an i7 processor. SSD hard drive. Massive video card. Alot of people dont know but depending on how a game is made it will either hog the processor and memory OR the video card. If I was to build a new gaming PC and money was not an object it would be
    Intel core i7 (newest version)
    32 GB of DDR3 RAM
3 SSD hard drives connected to a hardware RAID card in RAID 5
2 x video cards (whatevers new at the time)
    1 3 TB storage drive

As for me, the minimum specs for gaming would be a
    *dual core processor
    *512mb video card
    *2gb ram ddr2
    *160gb hdd
That are only the minimum, but if we have greater specs, the better gaming experience especially if we have widescreen.
