I bought a used Palm TX so I don't have to haul my laptop with me on campus and will still be able to browse the web and check email and stuff. Also it came with the GPS add-on, so that's always a plus.

However, I can't get the thing to sniff out my wireless network. It found my college WLAN just fine, but I can't figure out how to get my router settings so that the Palm will find it. :|

The WLAN is WPA-protected and broadcasting. I've added the SSID and passphrase into the PDA but it's no good. I haven't tried with the WLAN unsecure, don't like the thought of it.

Here are the settings for my WLAN on my router:

    Wireless Channel: 6
    Extension Channel: 2
    SSID: Starfleet Command
    Wireless Mode: 802.11b/g/n
    Bandwidth: 20/40Mhz
    Broadcast SSID: On
    Protected Mode: Off
    802.11e/WMM QoS: On

    Security Mode: WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK)
    Authentication: WPA-PSK
    Encryption: TKIP
    Pre-shared Key: ***********

    Wi-Fi Protected Setup: Enabled
    Use As Access Point: Disabled
    MAC Address Control: Disabled

Available WiFi settings on the Palm TX when adding a new wireless connection:
    Network Name (SSID):
    Security: (WEP or WPA-PSK)
Connect to: Peer-to-peer (ad hoc), or Access Point (infrastructure)

    Any ideas welcome.

Core, was your campus wireless network automatically discovered or did you have to enter the connection details manually?

It was automatically discovered. Same way that the Palm TX discovers a whole bunch of WLANs that are up in my neighborhood (my laptop finds the same ones too). It's as if MY WLAN is the only one it can't sniff out.

You might want to force your router into B mode and see if that helps.

I'm updating this in case someone ends up here looking for this solution.

What eventually worked for me was trying out different channels. For some reason the router software defaults to channel 6 or 10, but as a last resort I tried different channels and bam, Palm finds the network without an issue now.
