Is there somewhere a reasonably small list of p*rn sites which I can add to
a host file (which is already 400k+)?. I just want to block the major ones.
The last list I looked at was over 2 megs which would slow a machine down
considerably I think, when browsing. There are scripted proxy solutions but
I don't want to filter by subject (effectively).

  2. Not porn specifically, but adverts and malware:

Beware that some versions of Windows have difficulty with large hosts
    files.

Yes, so I've heard, but so far the existing one (400K, adverts and malware
and referers) doesn't seem to have a problem in XP.
Thanks for suggesting one, however it's only 44K. I really need a basic p*rn
one to add to the existing one.

  4. This looks interesting:

scroll down to the bottom ("Script to save the Internet Filter porn list
as a text file with one site per line".) You could no doubt modify this
into a form suitable for merging into the hosts file.

Thanks, I missed that, I had started doing it manually till I realised just
    how many pages there were.

However this generates an 8 meg file! Not really what I wanted. If nothing
else this really would slow dns on the client down! I noticed when I started
doing this manually that there are some ip addresses at the begining of the
list. This is probably the most useful part if these are complete(ish).

Thanks that is the one I have already, I was just hoping to make it more
porn specific (but not too comprehensive as there are about 424000 porn
    sites)
