A mate has an Origin PogoAlert, the model shown here:

    http://www.pogo-gps.co.uk/pogoalert.php

.... and described as the 2009 revised version.

    It worked with Windows XP.

Mate now has Windows 7 Professional. Plug it into that, nothing happens.

Is it known whether this device will work with Windows 7?
Manufacturer's website is not very helpful ...

If he has W7 Pro he can install the Win XP Mode on a Virtual PC for free
and any XP USB device should work with that.

This follow-up is via Turnpike installed on XP Mode on a Win7 Pro
    machine...

Is this correct? I haven't got any usb devices here that don't work in
Windows 7 (although I have tested XP Mode with software that doesn't).

I had to install a bit of Microsoft software that allowed the software
to sort of "tunnel" through to use the usb drivers of the host Win 7.

I have always wondered if this would work with older usb hardware whose
drivers didn't work in Win7, so I'd be very interested to know the
    answer.

It was the only way I could get an old scanner to work - so yes, I'd say
it's a good thing to try. Nothing to lose. :)
