Optical Drives don't show up Win7 Pro

    On a new installation of 7 Pro, BD and DVD drives only show up in Win
    Explorer or Directory Opus when a disc is inserted. "Hide empty
    drives" in Folder Options is un-ticked. They appear in Device Manager
    and are otherwise working fine. What gives here?

    Access the BIOS on boot up and get the BIOS to detect all the HDDs and
    optical drive again and perhaps change the boot sequence of the HDD and
    optical drive.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work. It's not a huge
    problem. I posted on another group and some people have said that they
    had never seen empty drives listed on 7 pro, in spite of a tick in the
    'list empty drives' box. I have a much more pressing problem in a new
