Opinion please. What do you reckon on this SCAN machine/price?

Looks pretty good to me - things have certainly moved along since my
day! Nice that it can be configured at sensible prices. And I see it
    includes an 80GB SSD?!

I don't see an ssd in that price.
The same bits from ebuyer (except the case - I substituted a Sonata 3 -
better case & PSU) come to about £710 (including W7 Pro).
Personally, I'd think twice about running an o/c'd system on the PSU
    included with a £44 case.

  4. Looks good I think I paid £ 632.95 ex VAT for my system at the begining
of the year as below with an ATI Radeon 5850 not including Windows 7
Home Premium. From a quick look I think the Radeon 5850 is faster then
    the GTX 550ti.

    i5-2500k @ 4.6ghz
    8GB Crucial 1333mhz DDR3
ASUS P8P67 rev 1 motherboard (needs to be swapped for R2)
Asus Radeon 5850 1GB Graphics Card
    1TB Western Digital Hard Drive
    Coolermaster Gladiator Case
    Antec Basiq Plus 550W PSU

So for £ 597 ex VAT your getting a copy of Windows 7 too for £ 30 less.

  5. Sorry mine was the Asus Radeon 6850 which is still marginally better
    then the 550ti.

  6. I see if you change the graphics for a 6850 and change the cooler for a
Akasa Venom (same as mine) it comes to £ 668 ex VAT. Then the only
difference is the Coolermaster Elite vs my Gladiator (slightly better)
and the Coolermaster PSU vs my Antec Basiq again slightly better.

So really the system costs about the same as what I paid in January if
you to swap for the better case and PSU (which you can't).

I'm surprised that they overclock the system as standard. Doesn't that
void the manufacturer's warranty on the CPU?

If they didn't overclock it they could use a stock fansink.

Rather a big case for a uATX board ... and £45-ish for case+PSU
suggests a less than desirable PSU.
    Eh?

I think you're looking at 8GB (RAM) and seeing 80GB (SSD).

    Cheers,
    Daniel.

Where did you get this? I would like a system without Windoze.

You're right - it's not there now - but it was when I tried to
    'configure' it earlier.
