News: Apple release New iPad and updated Apple TV

Discussion in 'iPad' started by Helpful Harry, Mar 7, 2012.

  1. Is everyone asleep, or still busy reading the news websites? ;o)

As predicted, Apple has released a new iPad with Retina display, etc. and
an updated version of the Apple TV set-top box. The older iPad 2 will
still be available in some configurations as well. has a few items on their front page. Other websites will
also be flooded with the news and comments.

Being on a dial-up connection, I haven't had time to read much about
these, but so far haven't found out whether the new iPad is called an
    "iPad 3" or "iPad HD".

it's called 'the new ipad', which is going to be very confusing.

  3. There's a long history in the arts to have a "New" version of their
art - which becomes laughable when the next "new" version comes out.

than in the clause which confides the question of war or peace
to the legislature, and not to the executive department."

Not at all. The next one will be the NeXT New iPad.

Thus fooling all those who thought iOS was to take over OS X.

It will be followed by the NeXT Newer iPad.

  5. The hopeless journalist on the local TV News just called it the "second iPad".

If they think this is a product that'll be around a decade or two, they
probably want to move it into the same naming category as the iMac and
iPod. There was no "iMac 2" or "iPod 2", just the new iMac and iPod.

  7. That is what should and probably will happen at some stage, and with the
iPhone as well. The problem is that with both devices Apple has seems to
be keeping the previous model on the shelves as well.
