iPod Shuffle

Apple has just released it's new iPod shuffle portable music player. You can get it in either 512MB or 1GB. There is no display. But, very it is very small. I think this is a ridiculous idea on Apple's part but, hey, I don't know. All I do now it that I would never get rid of my 4th Generation 20GB iPod for that. Even at the 200 dollar price difference. What do you think about this new iPod?

My g/f wants one. So I'll probably pick one up. Theres a couple of good things about it:
1) Its flash memory based so its not suseptibale to skipping
2) Since its flash based it has no moving parts, which means
a) it'll last longer
b) use less batteries

 

Sounds good. I hate my minidisc player now. Sony Music sucks and I can't afford a full ipod. Might pick this one up.

I don't know. I think they should've waited untill they've sold as many of the more expensive ones as they could then released this new one.

 

wish they had a screen. thats the main drawback for me.

 

yea.. it's great for size though and for people who are to poor for big ipods

 

I'd have liked a screen. But the price is awesome. And for joggers and people working out its great.
And why are they releasing it? Thats simple. They released it, and their Mac Mini on the same day. They're selling it to a lower end crowd who doesn't need 20 gigs of songs, just a couple of cds, and a computer that just WORKS. I'm tempted to set my grandparents up with the new Mac Mini, plus its just so dead sexy.

You can buy a 40 GB one of those for the same price as a 20 GB Ipod - and htey play roughly the same media.

I'd know which one I'd like to buy (Creative)

 

oohhhhh........i want one.......my minidisk player is getting to big for me. its a pain to carry arround. i should get that creative nomad thing. i could really use a USB flash drive. i don't really like the color....hope there are more varieties. time to start saving

ohh hey, i found one for $99 on amazon. its the same thing except its not "NX". the $99 one is "TX". it has a radio tuner, and the USB flash drive thing.
