If I format my drive, how can I re-download my songs that I've purchased? Do I just copy them back from the iPod?

There's a program out there that actually allows you to grab songs right off of your ipod without itunes. I don't remember the name of it at the moment but I will get back to you if it suddenly hits me.

Ah, so I would be able to copy the songs then if need be... the new iPod Classic has pushed me over the edge, I should be picking it up over the weekend.

Yes, but I would highly recommend that you store your music on a hard drive other than the ipod.

Btw, I remembered what the program was called:

    http://www.ipod2computer.com/index.php?SRC=6

I am not quite positive that it runs on the PC because I have it on my Mac but I am pretty sure there is a PC version. Good luck with your transfer!

Of course. You shouldn't see a significant shortening of life span. Of course, if you go over the line into abuse, it will shorten the life spam by a bit. Running, or general workouts won't give it much trouble.

The reason I questioned it was because Apple doesn't seem to have arm bands for the iPod classic.

Don't worry about it. iPods are really solid. Like the hard drives in the macbooks/mac book pros, I think there is an accelerometer that detects sudden shock.

is there an apple store near you? That would be ideal. I'm going to get mine from the apple store near here. Otherwise, order it from Apple. Stores won't have them for a couple weeks, and shipping is free, so why not.

I purchased mine at Best Buy as Circuit City did not have any in stock yet; so far it's working great! I wish I could sort cover flow by albums though.

edit: The ear buds do not stay in my ears... is this normal or am I deformed?

    Wooo ima get banned.....

The ipod headphones aren't that great. I suggest that you get a different set if you want to make the most out of the ipod. Did you try putting the black covers over the ear pieces?

Thanks. You just made me spit water all over my new wireless keyboard. :lol2

I couldn't get them to stay in my ears either, so I bought a cheap pair at Wally World and they seem to be doing just fine.

I had real problems until I put on the thicker set of foam covers-that seemed to help them sit in my ear.
Also, don't be afraid to push them in-you have to get them in pretty deep to sit right.
