Looking at programs to share a folder with other users via the internet
    - for example Dropbox.

    The process appears to be:

    1) create account

    2) install application

    3) configure application with shared folder

    4) Repeat on as many other users' computers as you like, using the same
    account credentials.

The result is that the shared folder on every computer contains the same
files (once synchronised). All users see the same files, any user can
delete a file, any user can add a file - this would be with the free
version. The paid-for version allows the same folder to be seen by
different users, each potentially with distinct permissions (read-only,
    read-write).

So far as I can see the available products only allow for one shared
folder on a given computer. So a user who wishes to share one set of
files with one group of users, and another set of files with a different
group of users - he is stuck! I think this would be a common
requirement - a folder for friends, and another folder for work, etc.

One can envisage a need to generalise, so a given computer can have an
indefinite number of separate shared folders each associated with a
    different account.

But from what I can see, there is no such capability in any product on
the web - unless anybody can point me to one that would work as I
    suggest ....?

    TIA
