Do any of the drive imaging programs include SATA drivers so that the above
could be possible, or am I looking at reinstallation on teh SATA drive?

    Cheers

Do any of the drive imaging programs include SATA drivers so that the
Acronis True Image can do that, as it does it from Windows. I imagine that
Drive Image, that was made by Powerquest, could do the same as that also
would copy the contents of the OS from Windows. I am not sure of Norton's
Ghost would work as it uses a "DOS" type interface so maybe someone with
experience can help you there...? Maybe others will post of different
    methods and tools to use...?

I have used Ghost to *clone* my PATA drive to a SATA drive. I have never
    tried restoring an image file.
