Is there any program that I can have loaded (like a beacon or
transponder ??) on the "stolen" computer, and be able to track its
    possible where-abouts on a different computer ??

I have never used such software, but it exists.

Do a google search on "Laptop tracking software"

I see that this one is free and looks on paper good.

Please tell me what you discover as I am interested too.

yes prey, Waste of time, my computer was stolen by a scrote in a hoodie
on a train with train cameras, platform cameras etc.
I have a pic of someone using my computer and lots of other stuff.
Police have had it all for nearly three weeks, Nothing

ps I attached 4 of the reports to the first of the three posts I just
made,I realize people do not open attachments but I have not made them

Plenty of systems strip attachments, they were not visible at all.

Its better to have links to somewhere like dropbox etc.

Dont know why one report puts it in the middle of Sydney, when the other
reports put it near 121 Whitford rd Hinchinbrook.,because all the
    pictures have the same background.
Tend to think Hinchenbrook as it was stolen from me on the train at
    Warwick farm.

if you can take pictures then consider getting some one who knows how ti
install a suitable tracking program then take it all to the coppers , if
they bother they will claim the kudos but dont hold your breath

If you opened my urls you would see pictures of user and ip addresses
and google maps of where it was when used and other stuff.
Police have had info for ages, the would also have pics of the hoodie
that stole it (although probably different from the person using it)
These reports were were at the same time and he has not logged on
since(probably wised up and formatted since, or chucked it)

None of that information is readily available without legal work I think
or useful unless minutes old and tracked immediately with some legal
    paper work which takes time

Sad to say but claim the insurance as it certainly is formatted and
    lost to you
next time have it pass-worded and preferably in a safe bag thats
unzipped and carried by you upside down , I had someone try ripping my
laptop off but he was caught in seconds but still frustrating , sorry
    hear about your loss

You didn't go and look at 121 Whitford rd Hinchinbrook ?
Those curtains are pretty distinctive and should be visible from outside.

The cops might get off their lard arses if you give
them a ring from outside the unit and say you have
seen the curtains and the arsehole in the photo and
you will knock on the door if they don't show up.

I was using the computer on the train
Foresight is a wonderful thing, if I had been using it in the middle of
the carriage instead of that little section at the end of the train he
would probably not been game as he would have to get past all the
passengers instead of straight out the door and up the platform steps.

All of the information is on the files that I posted and if you open up
each piece or expand you would see.

doesn't do any good without access to the ip and who was logged onto
it , needs a warrant as opposed to having a number with no reference
meaning the effort required is of a low order when they can get out and
    make traffic fines

not a chance , but if he gets injured following such stupid advice I
am sure you will provide adequate compensation as a matter of natural
    justice

The cops in Sydney Southwest are very much into on selling drugs
When they find your stash of "heroin" they may dob you in for say 1
kilo but keep the other 9
on selling it through the network of drugies they can lookup on any
    police computer
Next door to me was a drug house and when ever the cops received a
compliant the house was warned and left before the police turned up.
At first I and neighbour's thought they were listening to police
radio? Turns out because of radio encryption they cant? So from the
inside 24 hours a day the police warn drug outlets when they receive
    complaints.

Thankfully the owner of next door was jailed for embezzling 2.4
million from NSWFB and house sold. his Aunt and her daughters had to
move (no more free rent). He a Chilean national only got 3 years,
local paper around same time showed some klutz embezzled $30K and also
    got 3 years?
NSW has the "best police money can buy" still applies
