I never understood why they had to do that <br /> business in the first place.

Didn't actually know you could change the title of a thread once you had posted it.

    Now I now :D

Think it was basically to keep it all similar.

    Like <img></img> became the far easier <img />, <br></br> became <br /> etc., etc.

Basically, to close certain tags in XHTML, it HAS to end in />

Think that's something to do with XML as well (HTML5 isn't necessarily XML - or it maybe, I don't know that much about the underlying theory)

Unfortunately our company that has 5,000 or so employees roughly 60% are still using IE6. We are in the process of rolling out IE7 at least and then by this summer we will start deploying Windows 7 to replaces Windows XP.

I have started to play with HTML5; I would LOVE to roll out my website in HTML5 but unfortunately not a lot of people out there are running capable browsers.

Why haven't you gone straight from IE6 to IE8? Do you have to install IE7 before going onto IE8?

It would be a lot easier to go straight to IE8, as IE7 and IE8 are very similar, bar IE8 looking a lot nicer, and having better support for web standards (better, not good)

It is an annoyance tbh, especially with so many people using Internet Explorer.

Thankfully, the user-base for Google Chrome and Firefox is growing :)

Supposedly IE9 will support HTML5 fully (lol), AND pass Acid3.

    It's nice to have dreams.
