Hi I hope you can help,
    I'm running a Presario 2100 AMD 2.4ghz 512ram
Everytime I run my lap top on my battery it cuts out after 3 minutes, doesnt shut down properly, so i expected the battery is dead. So i remove the battery and check the self status on the battery it self and shows that all the lcd lights are present when pushed meaning battery is full.
I proceed to HP customer support and told to remove battery and ac adapter, and hold down power button to drain internal laptop capacitor. This doesnt do anything, ive run battery optimizer but im thinking its got to do with a incomplete circuit between battery and laptop but if so why can my laptop run for a short time.
I can run no problem on AC

Battery information: HP Lithium Ion (1 and a bit yr old)

Any information would be greatfully appreciated,
I Hope this provides enough information
    Geo

and youve left the battery on the charger all night long?
have you tried draining the battery then recharging it?
is the connection to the battery and the latop clean?

i would understand that you may not want to buy a new battery because of the price, but you may have to if it died.

Theres not much you can do about that. Just ebcause its holding a charge that doesn't mean that the internal circuitry which handles reporting how full the battery is to the computer isn't broken. You might end up running the computer after the AC.

I hate to give this advise, it's not in any textboot. I use a lightbulb. Yes a broken lightbulb, connected to both ends of the laptop battery, to drain it. Works kinda like a big resistor, draining the battery completely and then charging it again usually works. I also use this for cellphones.

Tricks of the trade, I learned it from a guy who repairs for Rogers. He said that they'll give you a new battery, but they'll do what I said and resell* it.
