hdd swap

    If I have a sata 2 hdd formated with xp ,having photos music and videos. Can I add it to an asus essintio sata 3 with windows 8?

    ok let me help out this hard drive was on a older computer running xp home, there is no os on it all that is on it is movies and photos and music.But it was downloaded in XP home. Can I take this hdd sata 2 and run it on my asus enspirio that is running windows 8 and sata 3.

    You should be able to hook it up ok as long as the SATA 3 ports are backwards compatible with SATA 2 devices. The drive should have been formatted to NTFS so there's no reason for Win 8 to not recognise it.
