  2. useful for some backups
provided you don't mind having someone else holding your data and you don't have much

but pretty useless for a larger scale backup
you pay to upload, you pay to download you pay to store more than 5GB
and top nbn speed = 1/5 an old USB2
    got 1TB to store?
$50 of reusable storage on your local drive in 20 mins (USB3)
or a months quota to upload over 20 hours and pay a -packet-

Now -future- use, say 2030 in oz on whatever the NBN mutates into
or if you lived in some places in South Korea now, 2 hours to upload.
But in OZ you still have the per gig quota.

Basically it is a low capacity free thumb drive.

But as 5 inch floppy points out
when you take free stuff you become the product :)50)

  4. Google are terrible!

I keep getting spam emails specifically to solve any problems I chat
    about with friends in email.

you can go to settings and turn off WEB HISTORY.

I'll be using my own SQUIRREL MAIL soon on my own domain, dump this
    gmail address.

All you people using EFTPOS at shopping centers... every item you own
is on databases somewhere, where you shop, travel patterns, I'll
withdraw $4000 from the ATM next week and go off the grid for 6

  5. The point is as they show on the site
they want to know not only about you but
they want to encourage you to link through them

    Fair enough, 'free' service.
[ now here is a -joke-
how can you trust a company that needs to -remind- their employees not to be evil
WTF are they usually up to ? ]

The problem -I- see is that aquantainces and near strangers demand to finger your
googlespacetwit tube before they have even bought you a drink.

If you can't give them a maintained site the reaction is very much as if you just farted

A throwaway won't do, given the push for e.g. facebook logon to even access site
facilities, you don't exist as a person unless they can see a puke photo.

This is similar to wanting to use cash. A traceable bunch of plastic cards is preferred,
if you don't have a bunch of them you are some sort of preeeevert. :)

Trust you to think Big Brother as a tv show. That says more about your
    ignorance than anything else.
