Freeview TV Tuner Card card with FM/AM & DAB too?

Discussion in 'DIY Computers' started by Fred Finisterre, Nov 10, 2004.

  1. Is there such a thing?

If not, is there one without DAB, but with AM/FM radio?

    Thanks,

    Fred.

Errr, Freeview gives you the radio stations in digital so no need of am/fm
    radio.

Errr, only national BBC stations and a few others.
Depends what you want to listen to.

Fred: I've only seen analogue (not digital) TV cards with FM radio. I've not
seen any cards with AM radio, nor any with digital TV and DAB. Last time I
looked, DAB cards were few and far between (and expensive), but that was a
    fair while ago.

If you've a broadband connection listen to radio via the web, with the
BBC at least you have the additional advantage of 'Listen Again', it all
depends on how 'hifi' you want it all to be.

again though, not all the stations have streams. Maybe you're already
using the bandwidth. I personally wouldn't waste bandwidth on streaming
radio. I'd listen to the radio more if i had a dab card in the machine.

DAB itself ain't quite hi-fi, but it pisses on a 56kbps mp3 stream.

  8. Fair comment, I tend to cherry pick, mainly BBC7.
