    I'm new to Flash. I am working with a Flash template and trying to edit it; I've found this to be the most effective way for me to learn stuff.

    The template has some buttons but they are not associated with anything. They are just set to do a motion (movie, essentially) when cursor hovers over them. I would like to use a getURL function somehow to load a URL of my choice when I click on the button.

    However I haven't been able to figure out how to code it. Currently the buttons just have this in Actions:
    Code:
    on (rollOver) {
        gotoAndPlay(2);
    }
    on (rollOut) {
        gotoAndPlay(11);
    }
    What should I add to this to get the desired effect?

    you need to look into some actionscript tutorials. Actionscript is what makes the actions happen in flash. what version of flash you are using would determine what version of actionscript your using. Back when I used mx 2004 it was as2. in cs3 its as3.

    Well it said online that for CS3 I need to use navigateToURL instead of GetURL.

    This is what I have now, I found it from an AS3 tutorial but it doesn't work:

    Code:
    on (rollOver) {
        gotoAndPlay(2);
    }
    on (rollOut) {
        gotoAndPlay(11);
    }
    on (release) {
    navigateToURL("www.salakka.com","_self");
    }

    I will look into it tomorrow afternoon and see what I can find. I've been looking for a reason to use flash again. I'll either post my findings tomorrow or Wednesday. Sorry I can't help you right now but I have alot to do before 2:30a.m. and it's 10:01p.m. right now.
