Finding an event or photo in the photo app

Discussion in 'iPad' started by Howard Brazee, Aug 6, 2011.

  1. Is there a way to find a photo or an event in a large photo library on
my iPad? I don't see any way to search for an event name or a photo
    name.

  3. I've used that method to find songs in iTunes, but it failed when I
was trying to find an event. I just tried again, I opened Photos to
make sure I had an event "Yellowstone Vacation".

Then I shifted left and typed in "Yellowstone". It narrowed down as
I typed in "Yellow", and when I got to "Yellows", it just had "Search
    Web" and "Search Wikipedia".

Can you find iPhoto Events with this process?

  4. Settings/General/Spotight Search Make sure "Events" is checked.

  5. It is. (Everything is checked). Can you find events & photos via
    your iPad's spotlight?

Maybe it's time to stop at the Apple Store.

does it find it if you type 'yellowstone'? if it only finds it with
'yellow' and 'yellowstone' but not in between, that's a spotlight bug
    that's been there forever.

    You're right; it doesn't work.
    Why?

    Excuse my obtuseness.
Is an "Event" the same as an "Album"? Because if it is, then my pad
seems unable to find them too.

I have a photo album called "Rome" and another called "Kelly in the
USA". But in searches for "Rome" it finds lots of emails and documents,
but no photos. Similarly with "Kelly", including email addresses here too.

  10. If it doesn't work for others, there's no reason to stop at the Apple
Store, there's not something weird with my setup.

  11. No. In iPhoto we can have both events and albums (and we can have
photos with names). But apparently we aren't able to use Spotlight
    to find any of them.

  12. They're similar, but not the same.

It sounds reminiscent of Windows' "libraries". You can create folders to
hold things taken from any other folders.
This makes the whole filestore truly relational.
