This was raised on another forum I frequent, and I thought it'd be cool.

Is there any plugin or somesuch for forums (specifically those running phpBB) that would allow people to use something like a [time] tag, which would automatically adjust based on a user's time settings?

For example, if I wrote [time]10:30[/time], and I'm in CST, then it would show as 9:30 for someone in EST.

Yes, I know the timestamp on posts adjusts. I'm looking for a way to integrate that functionality into the text itself, perhaps through tags.

I'm not sure if it's possible in the message body itself. There is a way to put in the postbit the users local time.

I'm not too sure I get the point of doing this, say if Someone posted something, and the time stamp was adjusted, then it might say 'posted today at 10:34PM' even though for the user its 8:34PM. If they are 2 hours ahead. Sorry if I'm missing the point here

All right, allow me to elucidate.

What I'm asking about has nothing to do with timestamps on posts. I only used the fact that timestamps adjust based on user time settings as an example of how it might be done.

What I'm looking for is something that will allow posters to put a time in a post, in whatever format, in their local time, and have that time automatically adjust to other users' local time based on their settings.

The reason for this is that the forum in question is often used to arrange online meetings. Being able to make a post like "I'll be online at [time="GMT-6"]11:00[/time], and have it show up for various users as that time's local equivalent for them, would be very useful.
