Recently the desktop on my xps420 went black and whenever i change it to something else it doesn't update. I have read various posts around saying its some kind of desktop hack or worm causing this but have scanned with AVG,Adaware and Norton to no avail. The system is running Vista.

I will add that the graphics card does seem to be getting extremely hot and it's starting to struggle handling Warcraft but i doubt its the cause of the desktop problem.

The machine is just over 1 year old and outside the xps warranty. Do you think i could phone up and get it extended to get someone to check it out or is there a quick simple fix?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
