Compaq Presario V4000 hinge snapped

    So tonight I sat my laptop down on my lap, opened the screen and CRACK, the left hinge has broken. Its the one that houses the screens wires too, which I'm not best pleased about.

    I'm about to order a new hinge and attempt to repair it, I'll post my method and hopefully it'll work.

    LOL I google image searched for a funny image to post here, searched for 'unhinged laptop' and foud this in the first few pics. Its the same series as my laptop.

    So what you're saying then is that your model laptop has high quality hinges and yours breaking is a fluke?

    Actually, its been a rather good little machine over the last 5 years, been a steady workhorse for me
