Can I extract a photo from a contact record?

I have a photo of a friend who passed away recently, but all I have is
his contact photo on my contacts list.
It does not appear on my camera roll and I do not have it saved anywhere
else.
Is it possible to extract and save that photo for other use?

 

If you copy it (just hold your finger on it for a second, the select
"Copy"), then email it to yourself, then hold your finger on it in the
email, and "Save Image", it will be in your camera roll and you can do
pretty much whatever you want with it from there.

I have a samsung galaxy 3 and would like to get help on how to save a contact photo I tried to press and hold and save or copy image but it doesn't give me that pop up option nothing happens when I hold the picture down it highlights it and blows it up a little bigger but it won't let me save it how can I save it to my phone thank you please help
