I have Windows XP and (right now) an ATi Radeon 64 DDR ViVo. So I hook my VCR up to my card and use XP's movie maker to record the videos.

Are there any other programs that you recommend?

I'm new to this subject. I got a DVD burner awhile back and have been playing around with different movie programs.

You could check out Ulead's DVD MovieFactory @ http://www.ulead.com/dmf/runme.htm. That's a decent program.

I'll check out the trial version. I've been using XP's Movie Maker. It isn't too bad. I like how I can add effects and text. The only thing is, is a 2 hour video can really chew up 5 gigs of space.

Movie Maker isn't really a marvel of software design. I'd recommend Adobe Premiere or, to a lesser extent, a Ulead product (MediaStudio and the like).

DEFINATLY go with Adobe Premier. It's going to be a littler harder to use at first, but A LOT better. It's what I use, and I make short movies all the time. It's what I want to do for a career.

I use Roxio VideoWave. It's okay but I hate the metallic interface. I honestly like Movie Maker better:)
