I recently noticed faint, white, vertical lines when I changed my desktop background to a solid color.

I tried changing monitor settings, updating the graphics card and the monitor drivers.
    Needless to say nothing worked.

Help me. Help me before I decide to bash it to bits. :smash:

Couldn't tell from that photo but it looked like faint vertical bands where the coulour changes. Is that right or are they one-pixel wide vertical lines?

When they are one pixel wide then there is a fault in the array in the screen and nothing normally can fix it.

In your case, what happens if you choose different background colours i.e. all black or all red or all green etc. See if it makes any difference.

Does the vga cable from the PC to screen run parallel to the power cable? I wonder if some induced interefernce is occurring.

Maurice, you are right. They are actually more like bands where the colour is slightly brighter.
Just so you can get an idea of what the pattern looks like > i287.photobucket(d0tc0m)/albums/ll126/there_was_no_other_name/2012-02-24200543.jpg

    I tried changing the colours:

    black: noticeable
    white: noticeable
red: barely noticeable but definitely there
    green: noticible
    blue: noticible

And the cable is not running parallel to the power cable. I had ghosting issues earlier.

Maurice you're right. Those are actually bands where the colours seem to be a bit brighter.

I forgot to mention that the "bands" don't move in any manner.
    I tried changing background colors:

    black: noticeable
    white: noticeable
red: barely noticeable but definitely there
    green: noticeable
    blue: noticeable

And considering the power cable interference, it's the first thing I thought that might be causing those "bands". Unfortunately it's not.
