My wife has AVP free on her computer as her anti virus protection. Yesterday a pop up appeared on her computer declaring itself to be AVP Update and offering to scan her computer for any out of date drivers. Assuming that this is a legitimate part of AVP it seemed like a good idea so I told to go ahead. It downloaded some scanning software and invited her to install it which she did. She ran it. It did not find any out of date drivers but reported 28 "problems" on her computer which it offered to fix. I was beginning to get suspicious but let her try it. Immediately it asked for a payment of £20. At this point I smelt a rat and advised her to close all the windows it had created. Has anyone else seen this? Is it a legitimate part of AVP or a scam masquerading as AVP?
