Apple unveils iWork for iPhone, iPod touch

Apple has launched a major update of the mobile version of iWork, evolving
it to support the iPhone and iPod touch. Pages, Numbers and Keynote are now
universal titles, continuing to offer an expanded, more complex interface
on iPads. Pricing also remains a consistent $10 for each title.
Each app has further gained a new document manager, which should make it
easier to sort through files and arrange them into folders. Pages and
Numbers have been enhanced with a feature called "Smart Zoom," used to view
and edit data. Among some app-specific updates are font size and style
controls on Pages' ruler, and the option of using Keynote Remote to operate
Keynote from another iPhone or iPod.

The decision to release iWork for the iPhone this week may hint at the
nature of Apple's WWDC keynote on June 6th. It suggests that the company
wants to leave room for other topics during the keynote, of which there
could be many. Dominating the event will be demonstrations of iOS 5, and
iCloud, Apple's mysterious cloud service. (Also Mac OS X, Lion.)

 

Does this actually mean I'll finally be able to ARRANGE the files on my
iPad in some folders instead of having them rearrange themselves according
to last-opened? That is the single most irritating part of Pages on my
iPad by FAR!
