I was reading .net magazine (man I wish I got paid for that shameless plug) and saw a small article on something called AMD Fusion.

Basically what it does it shut off background processes that arent needed to run games, giving you a small boost from your hardware. It only works on AMD systems however, but it seems pretty nifty. You can choose from different levels of tweaking, from basic, right up to user-defined options where you decide EXACTLY what you want to disable.

I have an AMD AthlonXP 3200+ in my current rig, and it will be cool to see what type of performance increase I get.

What a good idea! There are loads of things running in the background on my system that I wish I could disable when playing games (Fallout 3 at the moment - it's good :D).
