Acer 3201w Delayed Warranty Return or ACER

Discussion in 'DIY Computers' started by Nick Le Lievre, Jul 22, 2006.

  1. Hi bought an Acer 3201w 32" Widescreen LCD TV from on 13/04/06 with
a 90 day warranty as it was in they're used section becuase it has a cracked
speaker. Anyway it arrived about 2 weeks after ordering and then I didn't
get to use it for 9 weeks further weeks becuase I was in hospital.

Anyway right from the start I noticed image discoloration when watching TV
particularly on skin tones and esp when anything red was onscreen. Also when
connected to the PC the same thing in red area's of the screen I have a
    couple of photos

Anyway I was reluctant to send it back at first becuase I only just got it
and it works 90% except when there's red on screen or during scenes where
skin tones are close up while watching tv amongst other things including any
red. Seeing as my 90 day dabs warranty has run out I was thinking I should
be able to send it back to Acer and I have contacted them despite the fact
it has a cracked speaker it should have a full warranty with them shouldn't

Anyway what are Acer like for warranty returns and what do you think of the
    problem as depicted.

  2. Are you using a VGA cable? Have you tried using another one?

  3. I am using a VGA cable. The problem isn't just with the VGA output watching
    TV exhibits the same problems.

  5. Well its a bit off putting when you got something red on screen. Also when
watching tv its bad when there's a face close up on screen. So not MUCH use
no but I put up with it for just over a month but its gotta go back really -
I suppose I`ll have to pay for the collection when Acer get back to me.

  6. I returned an Acer N35 Satnav/PDA to Acer for the 'standard' warranty
repair - i.e. socket for connection between device and PC wears out after
8mnths. They picked up the device quickly, but took 5 weeks to repair it.
They said the main boards were out of stock. I rang on more than one
occasion and couldn't get to the bottom of whether the repair centre was an
independent company or subsidiary of Acer. I felt the woman I spoke to had
a very uncaring attitude - as if is should be no problem to me waiting over
a month for a repair, and so I guess my overall view on Acer warranty was
that I got the thing back, repaired, after too long a wait and with the
feeling that they don't care too much about their customers. I would not
buy Acer again as a result of my experiences.

    Good luck!

Why on earth would you put up with such a major fault for even 24 hours?

Anyway , I thought you bought one of those no-name cheapo tvs already?
    Quite likely

  8. I was in the situation of just getting it and not wanting the hassle of
sending it back. I thought I could put up with it but now I`m sick of the
    problem and want it replaced.
I did but that was faulty also. It wasn't a no-name it was a Conrac.
About £ 30 then no doubt and I'll have to explain to them that one of the
speakers is cracked already and not to worry about it - I`m not sending it
    back becuase of that.

I say again , how did you ever think this was acceptable.
And can you honestly say you had every heard of them before?

If you want a decent flat panel then just spend the money on a proper
    branded one.

  10. I didn't but I just tried to put it to the back of my mind.
No I can honestly say I hadn't lol
I thought Acer were good heh just got a bad'un thats all.

  11. Just recieved this via email

I bought one of these TV's from ebuyer. Acer fixed this same problem 3
times (new main board fixes the problem for a few weeks) until I had enough
and sent it back to ebuyer who gave me a refund. They were actually very
good - full refund issued the day they got the TV back.

On one of the times I was dealing with Acer I did mention getting my money
back, and they said that it was the retailer who I bought it from that is
responsible for that - don't know how true that it though.

Get rid of the TV asap, and get your money back."

I can't send it back to for a refund becuase its now outside its 90
day warranty so it looks as though I could be shafted.

They don't stock any spare parts, from what I understand. Everything is
imported (presumably by carrier pigeon) from the manufacturers plants, in
China, IIRC. A faulty harddrive swap-out took them about 6 weeks for me.
The CS guy was very friendly, though.
