I'd like to put together a spare PC based on good performance/price ratio of components
e.g. XP2000+ would be quite adequate. I've not bought any components since I built my
current machine about 15 months ago so am not aware of todays bargains/must-haves.

I'd be grateful for any aired opinions on what the package might consist of and what a
ball park figure for components might be. It'd be useful too if my main HDD would be
transportable between the 2 machines. Would that inevitably mean a large measure of
    correspondence between components?
    currently:-
    XP2000+
    asus a7v333
    gforce 2 mx100 (i know, I know, but I won't be doing any gaming)

and the usual miscellany of bits and bobs.

Maybe it would be cost effective to just go for the same again?
