Zen Cart

I am experiencing unbelievable hassles moving a simple Zen Cart installation from one host to another.

Is there anyone here who has any experience in this?

interesting.....I was having some trouble with Zen cart as well (totally irrelevantly issue though)

What do you mean by move? Wouldn't you just have to reinstall it, then reconfigure it?

By moving I mean from one host to another. This happens by creating a new db and installation (same version) on the new host, then copying over the files from the old host, and exporting the mysql db from the old host and importing into the new db.

I've done this with phpbb2/3 and vBulletin plenty of times without any problems, but Zen Cart is giving me a headache. I am on day 4 with the site being technically down - as of today, it works in the sense that it has products up now, but all customer data, previous orders, and somesuch are still gone.

--edit: It's working now. Found a discrepancy in one of the config files. I don't know what the problem was originally but I am just glad it's up and I don't have to worry about it until something breaks again. Still, I wish I knew what the issue was to begin with. I prefer to learn from these experiences.

Are you having trouble exporting, or importing? Are you getting an error code? I have not used zen cart, but I have a bit of experience troubleshooting databases.

No, no error messages. What happened was, I would install the new, fresh installation, copy over the old files to overwrite the new (expect the config files that store the paths to the sql db), then go dump the tables in the db and import the db backup.

Interestingly, it would still show the demo products, and none of the new. The demo products are installed into the database, so they should have been gone when the db tables were all dumped.

I've emailed back and forth with the support of the host well over 20 times over the past few days trying to sort this out. I finally gave them access to the old database and they imported it and manually changed some things in the database (nice of them) so that at least the products now show up, but oddly enough the customers and previous orders are all still missing.
