Wrong Memory?

I bought an Acer Aspire 5100-5674 4 mo. ago from Circuit City. The specs say
• AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53
• 160GB hard drive
• Burns DVDs and CDs

• 1GB of DDR2 memory
• Built-in 802.11gb wireless
• Windows Vista Home Premium

In the system properties it says it has 756mb ram. I read somewhere that the wrong ram was installed. Is this right? I e-mailed CC and I am waiting to hear back?

On almost all laptops the system RAM is shared with the video card RAM. So yes you do have 1GB of RAM, but ~256MB of it is being shared with the video card.

When buying laptops, look on the specs to see if you are getting shared RAM or dedicated RAM. Dedicated means that the video card has its own RAM and is not sharing it with the rest of the computer.

This is why I HATE shared memory, always go for dedicated if you can afford it
