Wingdings/Symbol font re-install
I think (!) when I installed an HP 5740 deskjet it "hosed" my symbol and wingding fonts. When I went to the font folder the properties gave me an error. When I removed the printer, the fonts (the icons anyway) are gone all together. I tried my Office CDs that came with my Dell laptop, no fonts on them. The O/S CD says to not use it to reinstall programs or drivers. Going to various font sites I have to pay for them. Since I've technically already paid for them; how do I get them back? Reinstalling the printer driver did not restore the fonts.
HP has not been real helpful. Any help/ideas would be welcomed. Thank you. |

The only thing I can think of is to do a repair installation of Windows XP again, or locating the .fo and .ttf files on the Windows XP CD.
I'd try approach two, which instructions for which can be found on here. Under the heading "approach two".
